ABSTRACT: Investigating the effects of early childhood education on intercultural understanding aims to foster empathy, respect, and appreciation for diverse cultures from a young age. This study explores how early childhood education programs contribute to intercultural understanding. The objectives are to (1) assess improvements in children's knowledge and attitudes towards cultural diversity, (2) evaluate the integration of intercultural activities in early childhood education curricula, and (3) examine changes in community interactions and relationships across cultures. A survey design is employed to gather comprehensive data on educational impacts on intercultural understanding. A purposive sample of 120 children aged 4-6 years, from culturally diverse communities in Abuja FCT, ensures relevant experiences. The case study focuses on an early childhood education center known for its multicultural education initiatives. Findings indicated significant improvements in children's knowledge and attitudes towards cultural diversity, effectiveness of intercultural education activities, and positive changes in community interactions across cultures. Recommendations include integrating intercultural education into early childhood curricula and promoting cultural exchange programs to enhance intercultural understanding among children and communities.
